BADLANDS/GEORGETOWN LOOP RAILROAD

JULY 19-29       11 DAYS/10 NIGHTS

Come enjoy the wide-open safe spaces of America, with no borders to cross!!

This fabulous journey through America begins with a night in Janesville, WI before moving on to Mitchell, SD and a chance to see the famed Corn Palace. Continuing westward, we’ll stop at another landmark, Wall Drug, just outside the Badlands, and then move on to our two-night stay in the Rapid City, SD area as we visit Mt. Rushmore, before moving on to Bear Country USA to see Elk, Bighorn Sheep, and of course all manner of bears, up close and personal! Dinner will be at the Laughing Water on the grounds of the massive, under construction sculpture, Crazy Horse. Tomorrow will see us hitting the trail to travel to the famous cow town, Cody, WY for our overnight. We’ll be eyewitnesses to a re-enacted old west shoot out, and then dine in Buffalo Bill Cody’s famed Irma Hotel. This is the jumping off point for Yellowstone National Park where we will spend a day looking for Yogi Bear and his friends and viewing the clockwork eruption of the geyser “Old Faithful”. Yet more spectacular scenery awaits us as we travel on through the Grand Teton Mountain Range to overnight in picturesque Jackson Hole, WY. Our next two nights will be in the picturesque town of Boulder, CO, nestled in the Rocky Mountains. From here we’ll make the short trip to board the Georgetown Loop Railroad, with a breathtaking route right through the Rockies!! A tour of the Coors Plant to experience the freshest beer on the planet will complete our stay with time for lunch in the cowboy town of Golden. Our next morning will see us head east to overnight in the Topeka, KS area. Our last touring stop will be the Steamship Arabia Museum to see the perfectly preserved cargo from a steamship that went down in the might Mississippi. Overnight tonight will be in Effingham, Illinois before completing our journey on the following day. Come and experience “purple mountain’s majesty”.
