We will be staying in nearby Alexandria, VA this year. Our nation’s capitol in the spring is a sight to behold, whether Mother Nature decides to grace us with a cherry blossom display, or not.  If the thousands of Japanese cherry trees surrounding the tidal basin are not in bloom, the magnolias, tulips, pansies and a host of other blossoms will be in evidence.  Throughout our two day stay we’ll see the Lincoln, Korean and Vietnam Memorials as well as the Jefferson, Martin Luther King and World War II Memorials and we’ll view the White House, Capitol and Washington Monument without going inside.  On Sunday morning we’ll stop by the Iwo Jima Memorial ,the Air Force Memorial, time permitting, and have time in Arlington National Cemetery.  The highlight of our day will be a family style included luncheon at Carmine’s legendary restaurant.  A stop at the Smithsonian Institution museum of your choice will round out the afternoon and return will be mid evening.

APRIL 1-2 - (2 DAYS/1 NIGHT)

Our first day’s travel will take us into picturesque Lancaster, PA and, after a lunch stop at Cracker Barrel, we’ll enjoy the must-see production of “Esther” at Sight and Sound Theater. The show is the 34th original production for the Christian theater, which will be celebrating its 44th season. After the show will be an Amish style feast and shopping at nearby Hershey Farms, followed by check in to The Country Inn of Lancaster.  On our second day we will head over to Kitchen Kettle. A quaint, fun village full of shops of homemade jams, jellies and much more!  A smorgasbord lunch will follow at Shady Maple.  Then it’s all aboard as we head to the Amtrak station to travel around the famed horseshoe curve before disembarking and meeting our coach in Greensburg, PA.  There is a snack bar on board the train if you haven’t gotten filled up in Amish Country.

Our first day features the 75,000-square-foot Creation Museum, where the pages of the Bible dramatically come to life.   Our hotel for the evening is in Florence, KY.  On day two, following breakfast included at the hotel, we depart for the Ark Encounter, a full-size Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, this modern engineering marvel amazes visitors young and old.   From the moment you turn the corner and the towering Ark comes into view, to the friendly animals in the zoo, to the jaw-dropping exhibits inside the Ark, you’ll experience the pages of the Bible like never before.  We will arrive in time to have lunch, included, at Emzara’s Restaurant.   A dinner stop will be made enroute home.

NEW YORK CITY IN THE SPRING Featuring Dinner and “The Ride”

April 24-26 - (3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS)

Join us for our traditional springtime visit to The Big Apple just as it is bursting with blossoms and greenery.  We will be staying at The Wellington, on 7th Ave. @55th St. surrounded by dining, shopping and just steps from Broadway and Central Park.  Just remember to book early since the hotel requires it.  After our mid afternoon arrival, we’ll do something a bit different.  Our driver will drop us off at The Chop House for an included dinner and after dinner we’ll make the short walk to the pickup spot for “The Ride”.  You may have seen these unusual buses tooling around Manhattan.  They have stadium style seating and are equipped with fiber optics and video and each bus has two comedians on board. (www.experiencetheride.com)  This 75 minute tour is full of surprises and must be seen to be appreciated!! Saturday is free for you to enjoy the city and take in a show if you wish. Sunday morning we will stop at your choice of Ground Zero Memorial near Century 21 discount department store or Battery Park for any of the fantastic new restaurants here, Ellis and Liberty Island, the Staten Island Ferry with new Empire Outlets, The Sea Glass Carousel or to take in a museum. Departure will be 1:30 P.M. and arrival back approx. 11:00 P.M. on Sunday.  We can help with discounted Broadway show tickets of your choice.

San Antonio’s river walk is a sight to behold!  The over 14 miles of great restaurants, picturesque walkways, shopping, hotels, charming arched stone bridges, and just plain jaw dropping beauty, must be seen to be believed.  Our hotel, the Drury Plaza Inn, is in a historic restored bank building with easy access to the historic San Antonio River, and it features a rooftop pool on the 22nd floor!  Airfare is included with this package from the Pittsburgh Airport.  Also included is a two hour narrated boat tour of The Riverwalk, and a two day river taxi pass.  It is easy to get to such sights as the Alamo, La Villita, an artists’ village, The Pearl or one of the historic missions. The light show at San Fernando Cathedral on Tuesday and Friday nights is easy walking distance.  Your time will pass quickly here as you drink in the ambience, enjoy the cuisine and sightsee.  Our hotel includes breakfast as well as a happy hour with free alcoholic beverages and heavy appetizers (enough for dinner if you like). JUNE 7-10 - (4 DAYS/3 NIGHTS)

June on Mackinac Island means one thing -lilacs are in bloom!!  Our travels the first day take us to Mackinaw City to board one of Shepler Ferry’s beautiful boats for the short ferry ride to Mackinac Island where we will check into the historic Lakeview Hotel for a two night stay. This lovely hotel is one of the oldest continuously operating hotels on Mackinac Island. Dinner is on your own this evening at one of the local restaurants. On the second day we board  a charming horse drawn carriages for a tour around the island and through the hundreds of fragrant lilacs.  Lunch is included at the fabulous Grand Hotel.    The evening is free to enjoy this magnificent Island.   Don’t forget to sample the famous Mackinac Island fudge.  You will be hooked!!    We depart the next morning for some time and lunch on your own at Mackinaw Crossings.  Enroute to Thunder Bay Resort, a stop will be made at The Cross in the Woods National Shrine.  Shortly after checking into our hotel at the Thunder Bay Resort, carriages pulled by massive horses take us thru the forest in search of the majestic Bull Elk.   On to the Elk Antler Log Cabin for a superb 5-course gourmet dinner prepared before you on antique wood stoves by the owner of the resort while your guides provide entertainment. LANCASTER & WASHINGTON DC Featuring “Esther” and The Bible Museum

JUNE 17-18 - (2 DAYS/1 NIGHT)

Join us on this pilgrimage into the history of the Bible as we begin our tour in Lancaster, PA.  Here we will have time for lunch at Kitchen Kettle Village before the afternoon performance of “Esther” at Sight and Sound Theater, set in the opulent Persian Empire, where her great beauty takes her from an ordinary life to the palace, where she becomes queen.  Dinner will follow at Hershey Farms Restaurant. Our overnight is at the Country Inn of Lancaster.  After breakfast we will head for our nation’s capitol. Our afternoon will be spent at the new $400 million-dollar Bible Museum in a historic building right in the heart of DC.  Thrill to the 40-foot bronze and stained-glass doors depicting scenes of Genesis, and then feel free to explore 4 floors of Biblical history, including the replica of the village of Nazareth on the third floor.  If you need a bite of lunch, they have a snack bar as well as a restaurant.  We’ll depart the city late afternoon and see some of iconic memorials as we pass by.  Dinner will be included at Golden Corral en route home.  The Bible Museum is worth a visit!!

JUNE 21-26 - (6 DAYS/ 5 NIGHTS)

Our first day of travel will take us to our first overnight in Connecticut.   Our next day will be spent exploring Portsmouth, NH, a unique seacoast town on the Piscataquis River dating back to the 1800’s.  After lunch on your own and time to browse through the town we will cruise with the Isles of Shoals Steamship Company to Star Island.  A guided tour on the Island is included or you may prefer to explore it on your own.    A lobster dinner is included at a nearby restaurant-YUM!  Day 3 will take us to charming Boothbay Harbor, Maine.  Enjoy the ambiance of the town which retains the atmosphere of an old New England village.  This afternoon we set sail on a 4 hour Puffin and Whale Watch cruise.  Dinner is included in Boothbay before heading to Brunswick, ME for our overnight stay.   The next day it is on to FORT WILLIAMS PARK on CASCO BAY in Cape Elizabeth, ME for an up close visit to the iconic PORTLAND HEAD LIGHTHOUSE.  Lunch is on your own in historic PORTLAND, ME.   This afternoon we make our way to Kennebunkport, ME for a guided tour and an included dinner at the beautiful NONANTUM RESORT.  Then it’s on to our overnight stay in Salem, MA. Tours of the Salem Witch Museum and the famous 1668 Colonial mansion which inspired Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The House of 7 Gables” and time at Pickering Wharf are included before making our way to our last overnight stay at Foxwood Casino.  At Foxwood everyone will receive a buffet coupon and $10 slot play.

Join us as we are off to Northern Indiana Amish Country for the Shipshewana Quilt and Vendor Festival.  Upon arrival in Shipshewana we will visit E & S Sales bulk food store.  Shop where the Amish shop for everything from baking needs to candy to spices.  After checking into the quaint Farmstead Inn, our home for the next 2 nights, we are off for dinner at an Amish homestead.  After the ladies serve your family style meal the quilting frames come out.  You can pull up a chair around 4 original quilt frames filled with hand pieced Amish quilts.  They’ll demonstrate how to piece, mark and get the quilt ready to sew.  You can participate, watch, learn or just chat as you take part in the old fashioned quilting bee.   Day two will be spent at the Shipshewana Quilt and Vendor Festival.  A shuttle to downtown Shipshewana will be made available for more of the great shopping there.   Before returning home, we will enjoy a guided tour through Amish Country to view the amazing Quilt themed blooming Gardens and 22 hand painted quilt art murals.    Get out your thimbles, sharpen your scissors and join us on this fun tour full of inspirational ideas!!

NEW YORK CITY over the 4th!! Featuring Macy’s Fireworks Display!!

JULY 3-5 - (3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS)

Join us in the city this year since the 4th is back on the weekend!! Our host is the Wellington Hotel on 55th and 7th with a location ideal to get to any of the vantage points to see the acclaimed fireworks over the Brooklyn Bridge and on the East River.  This is an economic time to visit and, aside from the fireworks, the crowds are down as the locals enjoy the weekend elsewhere!  Note that most shows are not performing on the 4th however, so if you want to catch a show, it should be Friday night.  We can help you purchase those tickets, usually at a discount.  Saturday is free for you to enjoy and you may even wish to take the nearby subway out to Coney Island for the famous Nathan’s hot dog eating contest and some beach time!  Sunday morning we’ll do our usual drop off in downtown near Ground Zero or at Battery Park for those wishing to see the Statue of Liberty, or any of the other attractions filling this up and coming area.  Departure will be 1:30 P.M. with an approximate return time of 11:00 P.M.  Celebrate the 4th in style!!

Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, this modern engineering marvel amazes visitors young and old.    After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel we are off to Lebanon, OH for a   train ride aboard the historic Turtle Creek Valley Flyer through Warren County, OH.  This 1930’s Pullman style car is part of the Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad and we have deluxe seating in one of the air conditioned cars!!   Lunch is included at The Golden Lamb Inn, Ohio’s oldest hotel.  This hotel, established in 1803, has hosted many Presidents and celebrities through the years.
