Looking to take a one day adventure? The following is our ever growing list of One Day Trip ideas. From Amish Country to Downtown Cleveland, we are happy to present to you our trip itineraries.

Our Policies
A DAY IN OHIO DUTCH COUNTRY

JUNE 17 - THURS 

Bring your coolers for a stop at Gardner Pie Outlet enroute to Tuscarawas County.   You will receive one of the small pies and have a chance to buy for home. Moving on to the Dutch Valley complex, we will have time in the quaint shops followed by a delicious Amish style luncheon, included.  Next stop will be the famed Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens for a guided tour of his world-renowned carvings.  This is a great time to visit as the beautiful gardens should be in full bloom with Mrs. Warther’s button collection nestled in the cottage there.  Their gift shop, featuring their house made cutlery collection is not to be missed.  A last stop will include a chance to see the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock in downtown Sugar Creek, along with some time to explore the shops.

A DAY IN BUFFALO

JUNE 29 - TUES

Join us as we visit our neighbor in the north, Buffalo, NY.  Our first stop is Vidler’s old time 5&10 for a bit of nostalgic shopping with time allotted to grab lunch at one of the quaint diners in East Aurora, NY.  Our next stop will be the new waterfront in downtown Buffalo to board our boat for a tour of the Erie Canal past the impressive old grain silos and new Silo City to hear stories of this historic waterway.  After we disembark we will stop in Buffalo’s dynamic new neighborhood, Elmwood Village to check out the shops or grab an ice cream or snack before we head home.

CHAUTAUQUA BELLE LUNCHON CURISE/LUCYMUSEUM/TOWN TOUR

JULY 21 - WED

Our day will begin by boarding the Sternwheeler Steamboat Chautauqua Belle for a beautiful cruise on Lake Chautauqua with an included BBQ chicken lunch. Next, we will dock and head to the Lucy Desi Museum to see everything from costumes and scripts to Emmy Awards and Lucy’s gold Mercedes.  The gift shop has the largest display of Lucy merchandise in the world! We will then take a tour of Lucy’s hometown, nearby Jamestown, NY and the cemetery where she rests. Come enjoy all things Lucy!

NEIL DIAMOND TRIBUTE AT OHIO STAR THEATER

AUGUST 5 - THURS

With a late afternoon departure and time for shopping beforehand, you will be dined and dazzled with dinner and a show at Ohio Star Theater in Sugar Creek, OH. Your included meal will be family style at the Dutch Valley Restaurant, and then enjoy a tribute to Neil Diamond.

Join us for this brand-new day trip.  Our first stop will be near Cleveland at Sweeties, the world’s largest candy store, stocking all your nostalgic favorites.  Lunch will be at Williams on the Lake, set in a picturesque lakeside setting, this rustic lodge will host us for a luncheon buffet followed by nostalgic entertainment.  Upon departure we will stop at downtown Medina’s Root Candles and then have some time to explore this quintessential American small town!!

AUGUST 21 - SAT

Our day on the shores of Lake Erie will include a ferry ride to historic SOUTH BASS ISLAND.  While there, enjoy the delights of island living and explore the many specialty shops and restaurants, and see the view from the Admiral Perry Monument.  You may wish to take the tram tour around the island to the winery and Crystal Cave, rent a bicycle or golf cart for the day, or just relax.  Lunch is on your own.

CHAUTAUQUA BELLE LUNCHEON CRUISE/ NATIONAL COMEDY CENTER

AUGUST 24 - TUE

Our morning departure is going to take us to the Sternwheeler Steamboat Chautauqua Belle for a beautiful and filling luncheon cruise. Then it’s on to the National Comedy Center in Jamestown, NY. “The National Comedy Center is the United States’ official cultural institution and museum dedicated to presenting the vital story of comedy and preserving its heritage for future generations”. This is a nationally known museum, and we are fortunate that it is in our area.

JAILBIRD FEAST featuring JOHNNY CASH Tribute

AUGUST 25 - WED

Join us for this fun, unusual evening in nearby Wheeling, WV.  Our coach will take us through the gates of the Old West Virginia Penitentiary that once held 2000 prisoners.  We will head to the Machine Shop for a dinner of comfort food in a prison cafeteria atmosphere followed by the show.  If you wish to really get into the spirit you may dress as a prisoner or a guard for prizes.  Gary Sartin and the Tennessee Three with a live band will recreate Johnny Cash’s famous “Folsom Prison Blues” concert from San Quentin.  Fun, fun fun!!!

SEPTEMBER 9 - THURS 

Travel to the Ohio Dutch country near Berlin, OH and visit some of our all-time favorite Amish shops.  Stops will be made at  Coblentz Chocolates, Hershberger Bakery and Farmers Market, Swiss Village Bulk Foods  and  time to shop at the Walnut Creek Flea Market .  Of course a scrumptious Amish  lunch is included.  You will receive goodies at each stop and hear interesting facts about the Amish from our step on guide.   Another of America’s great small towns!!

MISS MOLLY’S TEA/ ROOT CANDLE/BOYERT’S

SEPTEMBER 23 - THURS      

We begin the day at Boyert’s Greenhouse and enjoy a short garden talk before strolling through the beautifully decorated greenhouse and gift shop.    Next, we stop at the Root Candle outlet which is stocked full of your favorite home scents.  Enjoy early afternoon tea in a lavishly decorated Victorian Tea Room, Miss Molly’s Tea Room.  After lunch you will have time to shop in Medina’s Historic Square, nine blocks of cool history and places to explore.  Finish the day at Gardner Pie Company for delicious pies at unbelievable prices.  Purchase your favorite in addition to the small pie we buy for you.

MARIETTA, VALLEY GEM, HENDERSON HALL FESTIVAL

OCTOBER 2 - SUN

This action-packed day starts with the scenic trip to Marietta, OH on the Ohio River. Upon arrival we board the Valley Gem Sternwheeler for lunch and the cruise to historic Henderson Hall in Williamstown, WV.  Upon arrival at the dock, a trolley will transport you to the home, built in 1859 and lived in for five generations.  It is a 29 room perfectly preserved Victorian era Italianate mansion.  In addition to touring the home, today you can enjoy demonstrations by a glass blower, sculptor, wood carver and much more.  At the end of the afternoon, the trolley will return you to the dock to board the Valley Gem for the cruise back to the dock.  What a fun day!

Everyone will receive a “GREEN” bag upon boarding the coach en route to Wayne County, Ohio.  You will spend the day filling the bag with goodies from Smucker’s Company Store, Lehman’s Old Fashioned Hardware Store and P. Graham Dunn Gallery.  A family style lunch at the Dutch Kitchen is included.

OCTOBER 10 - SUN

“Can you feel the Love Tonight” is just one of the iconic Elton John songs in this Disney Blockbuster with wonderful costumes, sets and acting! Join us on the African tundra as we experience “The Circle of Life”. Whether it’s your first time or fifth time, experience this phenomenon! A meal stop will be made prior to the 6:30 P.M. performance.

ALTOONA HORSESHOE CURVE/ AMTRAK

OCTOBER 13 - WED

Early afternoon will find us traveling through the autumn colors to Altoona, PA.  Upon arrival we will visit the Horseshoe Visitor Center hence to ride the funicular to the “Bend” for a chance to see trains circling the curve.   Last year we saw five trains make the circuit! We’ll make a quick stop at Benzel’s Pretzels and Boyer’s Candy, now home to Clark Bar and Mallow Cups for outlet shopping.  Next stop, all aboard Amtrak for a ride around the curve!  Our destination is Latrobe, PA for dinner at DiSalvo’s Station, the renovated Pennsylvania RR Station complete with a cobblestone train yard and a dining car! Please note that there are 25 steps leading down to the restaurant and this is the ONLY exit to the Latrobe station.  Our coach will return us late evening.

NOVEMBER 13 - SAT

Arrive at the Hartville Flea Market for some shopping time before enjoying a Holiday Feast at the Hartville Kitchen.  This afternoon will be spent at the Historic Palace Theater, one of the few remaining atmospheric theaters in the US.  An opening concert by Jay Spencer on the fabulous historic Kilgen pipe organ will be followed by Canton Christmas Celebration Show featuring John Traponi Big Band Ensemble along with other local singing and dance acts.

“THE PROM” AT CLEVELAND PLAYHOUSE SQUARE

NOVEMBER 14 - SUN

Broadway is back in Cleveland! Ride with us to see the “THE PROM”. This is a new musical comedy about big Broadway stars on a mission to change the world and the love they discover that unites them all. The Prom was featured on NETFLIX last year, to great critical acclaim. This will be alate afternoon departure with a stop for dinner prior to the 6:30 P.M. show.  Come back to Broadway with us!!

The Oglebay Mansion is open for tours again!!    Upon arrival we stop at the Schrader Center, a dynamic new craft market followed by a self-guided tour of the elegant Mansion.    Next a buffet dinner will be followed with a new one-hour Holiday Show.  Before departing for home, a guide will board the motor coach for an informative drive through the lights.

NOVEMBER 18 - THURS    

Our first stop will be the Hartville indoor flea market for some early Christmas shopping, followed by a home-style lunch included at the Hartville Kitchen. After this we’ll travel to nearby Medina, OH to visit the ever-growing attraction, Castle Noel.  You will be amazed here at your tour of Hollywood Christmas movie sets, over 4 million dollars worth of retired Christmas window displays from the likes of Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales, Saks, the original windows from Kauffman’s in downtown Pittsburgh, and new last year, Terminal tower in Cleveland!.  See toys of your childhood and explore the set of “Christmas Story” or “Christmas Vacation”.  Groups of all ages LOVE this attraction.  Time will be allowed to explore the charming main street of Medina as well.

This drive and walk-through light display at the Westmoreland County fairgrounds also offers a chance to enjoy a sleigh ride, picture with Santa, shopping and much more!

Lin Manuel-Miranda has created the show that is still smashing Broadway records!  The story of Alexander Hamilton and the founding fathers of the USA is full of Hip Hop, Jazz and R& B with the story of America then told by America now.  Our seats at the Benedum in Pittsburgh are center mid orchestra.  Book early for best seats!!
