Join us for this exciting new adventure to explore the Gilded Age of the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s.  Our first stop on this odyssey is Mystic, CT where we will have time downtown to explore this waterfront town and have dinner at a place of your choice.  Tomorrow will find us at Point Judith, CT to board the ferry to Block Island for a tour and lunch included at the National Hotel.  There will be time after lunch to explore this former playground of the rich and famous. Upon arrival back from the ferry we will travel into the Newport, RI area to check into our hotel for the next three nights.  You will have plenty of time to explore the neighborhood and find somewhere delicious for dinner.  A treat is in store on day three as we attend the Newport Playhouse for lunch, and a show.  A drop-off in downtown Newport will be next, with time to shop and choose a place for dinner.   On our next day a step-on guide will join us and we’ll hear about the storied past of this grand city and see all of the mansions on the famed Cliff Walk and even see the church where John and Jackie Kennedy were married. Lunch will be on your own in Newport.  With time for one more glimpse of this luxurious age, we will tour the Marble House, the “cottage” of Alva Vanderbilt, filmed in the TV Show, Gilded Age.   Returning to the hotel in time to prepare for the evening on the elegant Grand Bellevue Rail Dining Experience.  With a reception before departure, we’ll board this 1940’s restored dining car for a fabulous 4 course dinner and a wonderful view of the sunset over Aquidneck Island.  This will be an elegant, nostalgic affair!!    With a lunch included at the historic elegant Griswold Inn in Essex, CT enroute we’ll arrive in Manhattan in time to check into the Hampton Inn on 48th St.  This evening, we will walk to the beautiful Broadway Theater for the lavish production of “The Great Gatsby”, once more to revel in the excesses of the past.  Tomorrow morning, we will stop by Grand Central Terminal, yet another elegant structure from days gone by, and you will have a chance to have lunch here before our early afternoon departure.  Return to reality will be mid evening.
