Our travels the first day take us to Mackinaw City to board one of Shepler Ferry’s beautiful boats for the short ferry ride to Mackinac Island where we will check into the historic Lakeview Hotel for a two-night stay. This lovely hotel is one of the oldest continuously operating hotels on Mackinac Island. Dinner is on your own this evening at one of the local restaurants. On the second day we board a charming horse drawn carriage for a tour around the island. Lunch is included at the fabulous Grand Hotel. The evening is free to enjoy this magnificent island as you wish. Don’t forget to sample the famous Mackinac Island fudge. You will be hooked!! We depart the next morning for some time and lunch on your own at Mackinaw Crossings. Enroute to Thunder Bay Resort, a stop will be made at The Cross in the Woods National Shrine. Shortly after checking into our hotel at the Thunder Bay Resort, carriages pulled by massive horses take us through the forest in search of the majestic Bull Elk. On to the Elk Antler Log Cabin for a superb 5-course gourmet dinner prepared before you on antique wood stoves by the owner of the resort while your guides provide entertainment. This is an unforgettable experience, and many say the highlight of the tour. Following breakfast at the resort we depart for home making a stop in Frankenmuth, MI and at Bronner’s Christmas Store. Although the date has not been confirmed, we should be in Frankenmuth during their 39th annual Car Cruise.
